Truck Driver Achieves One Million Kilometres Accident Free
On the 28th July 2017, we had the honor to hand over a certificate of achievement to Charles Stevens, a heavy vehicle driver, for achieving one million accident free kilometers.
Upon receiving this certificate, Charles said that he has been driving since he left school. He loves trucks, but also stressed that the life of a truck driver can be very lonely. It is just you, the truck and the road ahead. Long hours and exhaustion is the main causes of crashes involving trucks, according to Charles. His remedy for this is to take breaks often and refresh by seeing the beauty of nature.
A lot can be learned from Charles and he is a true ambassador for road safety. A wonderful achievement in times when road crashes claims the lives of close to 18000 per year to a cost of 306 million to the economy.
Well done Charles! We salute you and wish you many more safe kilometers.
